Strawberries And Pistachio Cream
Strawberries And Pistachio Cream

If you've spent more than five minutes on TikTok lately, you've probably seen them.

Glossy strawberries layered with melted chocolate, pistachio cream, crunchy kataifi pastry, and enough green pistachio dust to make you question whether you're looking at a dessert or a luxury handbag advertisement.

What is kataifi? Sometimes spelled kadayif or kataifi, it's a shredded phyllo dough that looks like a pile of very thin noodles.

What Are Dubai Chocolate Strawberries?

They're called Dubai Chocolate Strawberries, and according to TikTok, they're life-changing.

Naturally, I had to find out if this viral dessert is actually worth the hype. Or is social media has once again convinced millions of people that expensive ingredients automatically equal culinary greatness.

The trend is inspired by the wildly popular Dubai Chocolate Bar, a luxury confection featuring milk chocolate, pistachio cream, and crispy kataifi pastry.

Viral Dubai Chocolate Strawberries Recipe

The strawberries version takes those same ingredients and layers them into a dessert cup.

The result is supposed to be a combination of creamy, crunchy, sweet, and fruity perfection. Or at least that's what TikTok promised me.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, washed and sliced
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips (or chopped milk chocolate)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, but helpful, for smoother chocolate)
  • 1 cup pistachio cream
  • 1 cup kataifi pastry (shredded phyllo dough)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup chopped pistachios (you can buy pre-shelled pistashos which helps a lot with this recipe).

Instructions

Step 1: Toast the Kataifi

  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the kataifi pastry.
  3. Stir constantly for 5–7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate

  1. Combine chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until smooth.

Step 3: Assemble

In four glass dessert cups or glass parfait jars:

  1. Add a layer of sliced strawberries.
  2. Drizzle with melted chocolate.
  3. Add a spoonful of pistachio cream.
  4. Sprinkle toasted kataifi.
  5. Repeat layers if desired.
  6. Finish with more chocolate, kataifi, and chopped pistachios.

Step 4: Serve

Serve immediately while the kataifi is still crispy.

Servings: 4 people or 4 portions
Prep Time: 15-25 minutes (I take my time)

Shortcut Version (3 Ingredients)

If you can't find pistachio cream or kataifi this shortcut works:

  • Strawberries
  • Melted chocolate
  • Pistachio butter

Layer all the ingredients in a glass and top with chopped pistachios. It's not the authentic viral version, but it's still delicious.

Hint: You can also sprinkle the top with a few chocolate chips, a sprinkling of pistachio dust or a dash of whipped cream which may be overkill, but looks cool for photographs.

Just use a very light touch with toppings to avoid losing the original recipe.

Pro Tip for Photos

The viral TikTok look comes from:

  • Using clear glass goblets or jars
  • Letting melted chocolate drip down the sides
  • Adding extra chopped pistachios on top for flair
  • Adding a sprinkling of chocolate chips or whipped cream
  • Taking the photo near a window with natural light

The contrast between the red strawberries, green pistachios, and glossy chocolate is what makes this dessert so eye-catching.

Finding The Ingredients May Be The Challenge

This recipe may seem simple enough. But finding the ingredients, was another story. The strawberries, which are in season right now and the chocolate were easy to find.

The pistachio cream? Not so much.

Apparently every social media influencer in America decided to make this recipe at the same time. All the local stores were either sold out or constantly charging prices. That made me wonder if pistachios had suddenly become more valuable than gold?

The Taste Test

Honestly, the hardest part was resisting the urge to eat the strawberries before they made it into the dessert cup.

I'll admit it. The first bite surprised me.

The strawberries worked in harmony with the richness of the chocolate and pistachio cream. The kataifi which sort of remined me of crunchy Chinese style noodles, added an unexpected crunch. As a result, that made the whole thing feel more sophisticated than it had any right to be.

It's sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet. It's rich, but the fruit keeps it from becoming heavy. And yes, it's immediately Instagram-worthy.

Painfully Instagram-worthy. I suddenly understood why people were filming dramatic slow-motion videos of themselves taking bites.

Is It Worth the Hype?

Mostly. Unlike many viral TikTok recipes, this one actually tastes as good as it looks. That's rare in my opinion.

Social media has given us some truly questionable food trends over the years, including recipes that seemed specifically designed to generate views rather than flavor.

Dubai Chocolate Strawberries aren't one of those trends. They're genuinely delicious. That said, they're also expensive.

Depending on where you buy the ingredients, you could spend significantly more making this dessert than you would on a traditional chocolate-covered strawberry recipe.

If you're looking for a budget-friendly snack, this isn't it.

If you're looking for a show-stopping dessert that will make your friends ask, "Where did you buy that?" then you've found a winner.

The Final Verdict

Would I make Dubai Chocolate Strawberries again?

Absolutely. Would I pay luxury-dessert prices for them at a trendy café? Probably not.

This is one of those rare TikTok trends that actually earns its popularity. It's easy to make, visually stunning, and genuinely delicious.

Just be prepared to spend more money on pistachio cream than you ever thought possible. TikTok gets a lot wrong.

This time, surprisingly, it got dessert right.

Rating: 8.0/10

Delicious, photogenic, easy to make, and dangerously addictive. but your budget may never forgive you.
